Football Season

In my life right now i can not find a single person who is happy that football season is finally back!  It is by fare my favorite season, not summer or spring, but football!  Its the season where everything from a year ago is forgotten and everyteam starts from scratch both at the collegiate level and the professional.  Football is truely a sport like no other it is so unique in everyway and i can not stress enough how excited i am for it to be back, i just hope it doesn't so fast this year like it has in years past!  Go Blue and go Lions, finally won a game for a change now keep it up (yeah right)!

Four Freedoms Posters

While at the library looking at the four freedoms posters, the one that stood out most to me was this one that i have posted here. To me this posters is so interesting because of the way that each freedom illistration is represented with a weapon in it, which to me is reflecting on the way that the United States today is surounded by violence. Citizens in today's world our constantly surounded by violence in everyway, including in our freedoms. Freedom of speech is represented by violence which to me indicates terrorist attacks where violence has been used to send their message. The freedom of want seems to mean that we can get what we want when we could resort to violence. Freedom of fear is shown as a family using weapons to protect themselves from robberies and break ins. And finally the freedom of religion is shown as people praising weapons and war as their savior. To mean the author here has shown the way that most americans today may view these freedoms and to me they seem to be very accurate, which is why this was my favorite poster out of all of them.

The Power of Words

Each and everyday of our lifes we use words whether its to communicate verbally or electronically.  Without our words, we would not be able to communicate with our friends or family, or anyone in general.  However, it is not just our words that help us communicate, we can also use gestures to express our feelings at a certain point of time.

The power or words is so great that it can heel wounds and also it can create them.  With your words you can brake someone's heart, or you can warm it.  You can hurt someone's feelings or you can lift their spirits.  So next time you saw "shut up" or "i hate you", think of the hidden power hidding within those expressions.

Martin Luther King Jr. once said "A man who won't die for something is not fit to live."  With so little words, Dr. King was able to send one of the strongests messages that I have ever heard.  In just eleven words he explains that if an individual does not feel passion and love to the extent where one would risk their lives for it, than they are not deserving to live.  It doesn't matter the length and number of words that you say, it's how you put them together and the message that is delivered.

Go blue

For those of you who don't know, U of M faced the Notre Dame Fighting Irish who were ranked eighteenth in the nation on this past Saturday.  And also if you don't know this, I am an enormous U of M football fan (have student season tickets and have been attending to games for years).  So on Saturday, I called up one of my friends and we headed down to Ann Arbor to the big house.  Once again, for those of you who haven't been to a Michigan game this year but have in past years, everything is completely different this year.  Everyone shows up about an hour early, everyone cheers and screams until they don't have a voice anymore, and everyone is on their feet the ENTIRE game, there was no sitting at Michigan Stadium on Saturday.  Could it have been that everyone was so estatic because their rival Notre Dame was in?  Could be, however the crowd performed in simmular fashion last week against Western Michigan.

So the game came down to the last play and Michigan won in dramatic fashion, but to me and many other maize and blue fans it felt like much more than just a victory.  It felt like a huge monkey was lifted off of our young team's back, like that 3-9 season last year is finally in the past and that glory days are soon coming back to Michigan.  The victory also showed the rest of the nation that we are for real and that we are worthy to contend for the Big Ten Championship.  Now the big question is "Is it all hype?  Can Michigan continue to grow as the season goes on", and my answer is yes.  Indeed our team is very inexperienced, but that could only help us if anything.  The lack of veterans could bring the team together in away that could surpass them past their other foes of the conference.  My prediction is a 9-3 record, which is a huge step up for the program, its players, and its coaches.

Whether it was just luck or not this past Saturday, there is definitely a different feel this season when the players takes the field and everyone chants "The Victors".  So hail, hail to Michigan and we will see you soon Eastern Michigan.

First couple days of college

So fare for me the whole college experience has been simply amazing.  When you're a freshmen and you picture college, you imagine snotty people and mean cold blooded professors.  At UMD, everything is the complete opposite of that, and I love it!  The professors here are very laid back and also they seem to be very understanding, but at the same time they show a little backbone, which is needed in order to succeed.  And the students, who i really do not know yet, also seem to be very cool.  One thing i found very frustrating was the parking lot!  It took me almost 15 minutes to find a parking spot.  I now know how early i need to show up for class in order to even make it there on time.  Well I've got to get going now, have some other homework to get done.
