What’s Cookin’ in Olga’s Kitchen

26308 Ford Rd

Dearborn Heights, MI 48127

Olga’s Kitchen is a chain of Greek-based family restaurants primarily located in the Midwestern United States whose first location opened in Birmingham, Michigan in 1970.  The distinguishing characteristics of an Olga’s Kitchen are that almost everything on their menu in some type of sandwich put in a pita and made spicy, the great wait staff, and also a very nice and clean environment for you to eat in.

Walking up the the restaurant around lunch time on Black Friday, I noticed that the place was absolutely packed.  Yet within thirty seconds of me walking in, I was greeted by the hostess and asked the standard questions, how many people are in your party and of course smoking or non.  The host sat me without any wait, and shortly after she left the waitress arrived with a smile on her face.  She was very friendly and asked what I would like to drink and if I would like an appetizer.  Now when you go to Olga's, you must order their Snackers, they are deep fried pit chips seasoned in a cayenne pepper based seasoning and come with Swiss almond cheese to dip them in.  They are to die for.  So I ordered a basket of Snackers and a Pepsi.

About five minutes later, the waitress returned with the Snackers and my Pepsi and took my lunch order, I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak with extra steak (the portions are not small, I was just extra hungry) and I saw her immediately go and put my order in.  Considering that the restaurant was jam packed, I thought that was a key aspect that I considered when deciding if it was a good review or a bad one because some waitresses or waiters may have waited a few minutes to put my order in.

Shortly after I finished my plate, the waitress had returned with a Pepsi refill and the bill.  The damage done was $22.61, not a necessarily cheap lunch, but a very delicious one.  I thought that the waitress was very good, so a pulled out six dollars and the debit card to pay for the meal.  The waitress returned shortly and took the bill and my card and she must had noticed my generous tip because when she had returned, I noticed that the price was changed from nearly twenty three dollars to sixteen, and at the top of the revised check is “EMPL DISC”.  This topped of my nearly perfect visit with her great generosity which was greatly appreciated.

The food at Olga’s are made in their unique way, and there is something on the menu for everyone to eat.  This Greek kitchen is a great place to go with your family or friends and you’ll see the excellent food and service first hand.  Overall I give Olga’s Kitchen 4.5 stars out of 5 and I would recommend it to anyone who has not tried it.

You Don't Mess With The Zohan....

Ok so sitting in class today, my dear friend Greg brought up that at his advising meeting they served hummus and donuts, that IMMEDIATELY reminded me of the move You Don't Mess with the Zohan.  But no one around me had ever seen this movie!  If you enjoy a hilarious Adam Sandler movie, then next time you are at the video store i highly recommend seeing this movie!  You will cry laughing!  And you will see will I lmao-ed when he mentioned hummus.

Restuarant review

Is it just me, or was it hard to find a professional restaurant review?  It took me about 20 minutes on google.

p.s. while browsing I find this and I think it might help us when writing our reviews...

No Shave November

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=No%20Shave%20November

"The month of November in which you don't shave any hair of your body but instead you grow more bestial, brutish, and manly"

Someone last weekend at work asked me if i was doing "No shave November", and i had absolutely no idea what he was talking about.  So i looked it up, and i think that all of us men of comp 105 should do it to create "Unity" as Rick James (aka Dave Chappelle) once put it.

My lady

Today i spent hanging out with my girlfriend Beth, all day long.  We both go to school full time, she goes to School Craft, and we both work part time jobs, so are time is becoming scarce compared to what we became accustomed to this summer.  I feel like i hardly ever get to see her now, so whenever i get that chance i feel so happy for that whole day.  Have you ever had one of those days where you feel like no matter what happens, it can't ruin the day?  That is how i am every time i get to spend a day with her, i feel unstoppable.  We spent the day doing some homework together, watching some movies, talking, making snacks, and doing all the other stuff that perfect couples do.  It was a day that was truly needed, she helps me cope with the stress of school and work, and i do the exact same for her.

Michigan lost again...

Can you believe it, we lost again!  This season is very quickly turning into 2008 all over again, and i can not stand it.  My whole life i have been a Michigan fan and i can not stand seeing them get their ***** kicked in by teams who we have beaten routinely for the past 40 years.  With every loss this year, it seems like it has it has snapped some kind of winning streak that we have had against that team, and i am getting sick of it very quickly.  Fix this Rich Rod, fix it now!  If we don't make it to a bowl game for a 2nd consecutive year i will not know what i will do!

Just another Wednesday...

Oh Wednesdays, my least favorite day of the week.  Every Wednesday for me is the exact same.  Wake up around 10:30, sit and do nothing until i have to leave for school at 12:35.  If you think that is a great schedule because you get to sleep in, you are wrong i hate it i would so much rather wake up at 9 or 9:30 and immediately get ready for class than just wait around counting down the minutes before you have to leave.  Well then i have my first class at 1:05, Anthropology, yawn.  That class can really be a snoozer and make you feel tired even though you slept in until nearly 11.  That class ends at 2:20, then i go and sit in my car, eat the lunch i packed for myself and listen to music until it's time for our class at 3.  After our class gets out at 4:15, i have to immediately jet home to eat dinner in order to make it to work on time at 5.  I work at Bed Bath and Beyond in Westland (get your laughs out now).  There i do stock work for 6 hours.  This includes carrying 50 - 60 lbs cookware sets up a 10 step latter, and then repeating that about 6 or 7 times.  I usually get off work around 11 pm, sometimes later.  Needless to say, when i get home i am beat!  I hate Wednesdays...
